Volume holographic pulse shaping.
Volume holograms for subpicosecond pulse shaping are described. Experimental results with a camphorquinonedoped plastic hologram probed by a colliding-pulse mode-locked laser are presented. We observe a 2-THz beat frequency in the diffracted pulse.
متن کاملHigh-resolution femtosecond pulse shaping
The synthesis of arbitrarily shaped femtosecond pulses by spectral filtering in a temporally nondispersive grating apparatus is demonstrated. Spectral filtering is accomplished by utilizing spatially patterned masks to modify the amplitude and the phase of the optical frequency components that are spatially dispersed within the apparatus. We are able to pattern spectra over a large dynamic rang...
متن کاملFemtosecond laser pulse shaping in the UV
Quantum control using femtosecond laser pulses has recently induced a revolution in photochemistry. Not only the nuclear motion within a molecule can be observed time resolved, but it can be controlled. The necessary pulse shaping techniques, however, have mainly restricted this control so far to visible and near IR absorptions. Fundamental compounds of organic chemistry and biochemistry such a...
متن کاملHolographic capture of femtosecond pulse propagation
We have implemented a holographic system to study the propagation of femtosecond laser pulses with high temporal 150 fs and spatial resolutions 4 m . The phase information in the holograms allows us to reconstruct both positive and negative index changes due to the Kerr nonlinearity positive and plasma formation negative , and to reconstruct three-dimensional structure. Dramatic differences wer...
متن کاملNoninvasive intratissue refractive index shaping (IRIS) of the cornea with blue femtosecond laser light.
PURPOSE To test the feasibility of intratissue refractive index shaping (IRIS) in living corneas by using 400-nm femtosecond (fs) laser pulses (blue-IRIS). To test the hypothesis that the intrinsic two-photon absorption of the cornea allows blue-IRIS to be performed with greater efficacy than when using 800-nm femtosecond laser pulses. METHODS Fresh cat corneas were obtained postmortem and cu...
